Q. Do I need to be an oenophile?
A. Huh? You mean a wine snob? Of course not! We only use "wine" as the theme. This is really about "girl time", so just bring whatever you like to drink (and remember, all wine goes onto a community table where it's shared with everyone, so don't spend too much on it).
Q. Are guys ever allowed?
A. Not at the regular monthly events. However, twice a year we host "Guys too" parties where you can bring your guy.
Q. What does it cost?
A. Absolutely nothing, that's one of the reasons we always host the parties at one of the girls' homes instead of at a bar or restaurant. There are no fees or charges, simply bring a bottle of wine or an appetizer to share.
Q. Why at homes instead of bars?
A. Economy, safety, less hassle, and a quieter environment. No overpriced drinks, high priced food, loud music or nosy guys. Just a time for us, girls, to hang out and have fun.
Q. Can I bring a friend?
A. Of course, bring her along! We are always happy to welcome new girls to the group.
Q. Will I fit in with the group?
A. Our group of girls include professional career women as well as hard working moms, socialites as well as girls who "almost never get to go out", fashionable dressers and those of us who make due the best we can. We all bond together over our common interest in living a lifestyle that others can't imagine – social, fun, uninhibited and an ability to communicate on any level.
Q. Why do I need to bring my own wine glass?
A. Each month a different member opens her home to host our parties. We want to make sure everyone – including the hostess – gets to enjoy herself and not be burdened with having to pay for food or drink, or having to provide AND CLEAN a bunch of glasses. So just bring your own glass and take it home with you, it makes it so much easier on the hostess.
Q. What are the party details?
The format of Girls Uncorked are that we...
- Meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month
- Have the party in a home (no community rooms, restaurants or spas)
- Bring our own glass for drinking (make it pretty!)
- Bring a bottle of wine and/or an appetizer to share
- Wear your sturdiest drinking heels
The party starts after work, usually at 6:00pm and lasts until 9:00pm or 10:00pm (depending upon the hostess who owns the home). At 7:00pm there's a quick social-circle where each girl gives a 30 second introduction and update on her life, this really helps the conversations get going afterwards.
Q. Are guys ever invited?
"Guys Too!" – Twice a year (usually in June and December) the boys join in as well. And then the party really ROCKS.
